SILVER LINING OUTREACH has recognized a severe need for
the services that we provide. Using our Daily Tracking Atlas
(DTA), we are servicing 72 different parts of Brooklyn. We are
mobile and respond to where the need arises. Fires in Red Hook
and all the way to Starrett City. All neighborhoods and all people
are affected.
We collect funds and materials to provide for the people who
become affected by fire. We provide the four (4) basic essentials;
clothes, toiletries, bedding and a debit card for food.
ASTOUNDING FACTS ABOUT FIRES IN BROOKLYN
In 2010, there were more than 700 different residential fires that took
place in Brooklyn. Approximately 750 families were affected. Imagine
these families standing and watching their things burn. Watching the
fire department destroy their belongings. It happens at least three (3)
times a day in Brooklyn. The severity of it all takes place all to often.
December 2010 witnessed the highest monthly total in 3 years with
more than 90 residential fires. This winter was extremely difficult due to
the snow and ice that hit the city hard.
SILVER LINING OUTREACH urges families to pay more attention to
details heading into the summer months. Summer cook outs are a
major attraction to FIRE. It gets hungry also. FIRE does not take a
summer vacation, it does not rest or quit. It just moves to the next
opportunity.

The five alarm fire broke out around 7:00pm early
Saturday evening and raged on until 2:30 when the
FDNY was able to get under control. The entire building
had to be evacuated. More than 20 families had to seek
shelter from the cold.
SILVER LINING OUTREACH alongside the Red Cross,
O.E.M and DHS helped provide the essential services for
the families. Along with all the city services received, the
community was also involved with providing for the
affected residents.
